The Department offers more than 96 units of courses devoted to the study of Chinese language and literature. These courses are available to students who major or minor in Chinese, as well as those from outside the Department. The courses, according to their focus, can be categorized into the four disciplines: Chinese language and literature, Taiwanese language and literature, children's literature, and Chinese art calligraphy. The courses range from introductory to advanced studies, comprehensive survey to in-depth studies. The variety of contents will appeal to all undergraduate students with different interests and potentials, whether they are motivated by personal interests in the field, are planning for graduate studies, or are preparing to enter the job market. Students can either progress through the pre-planned course levels or elect appropriate courses to complement their own studies.
